DYSPORT® AS AN ALTERNATIVE
While BOTOX® Cosmetic is often the go-to botulinum toxin injection for treating dynamic fine lines and wrinkles, there are other options as well. One popular alternative is Dysport®. This injectable is also a neuromodulator that can help reduce your wrinkles. Also, similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport® is a straightforward treatment that involves minimal risk.
The rule of thumb to remember here is that one BOTOX® Cosmetic unit equals three units of Dysport®. Therefore, if you were to get 20 units of BOTOX® Cosmetic, then you would need 60 units of Dysport®. This makes Dysport® a better option for those who have higher skin sensitivity. The price remains the same, only the dosage will be different.
While both are based on the same primary ingredient, botulinum toxin, Dysport® uses a different protein that allows it to spread more easily. Due to Dysport®’s ability to spread faster, the first results typically appear within two to three days after the treatment. The effects of Dysport® can last for about five months.

BOTOX® is a popular non-surgical injectable approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat severe lines between the brows, crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, and lip lines. BOTOX® is the cosmetic form of the botulinum toxin. This neurotoxin blocks nerve communication and temporarily paralyzes the muscles that cause wrinkles, giving the skin a more refreshed appearance. There is also BOTOX® for headaches and BOTOX® for excessive sweating in the hands and armpit areas. BOTOX® injections use botulinum toxin to block the nerve signals responsible for sweating, stopping the sweat glands from producing too much sweat.

Injections usually only last about 15 minutes. A tiny needle will be used to inject the BOTOX® into the muscles that cause unwanted lines and wrinkles. BOTOX® permits patients to immediately return to their day-to-day actives as there is no recovery time. Because BOTOX® injections relax the muscles and prevent them from working at their full capacity, the wrinkles they cause are reduced. Still, this effect usually takes place between three and five days after treatment. It can take up to two weeks after treatment for the full results to be apparent.
Good candidates for BOTOX® injections include those who have moderate to severe wrinkles, are physically healthy, are not pregnant or nursing, do not have a history of neuromuscular diseases, have realistic expectations for improvements, and are at least 18 years old. - Ptosis (drooping eyelids)

- Skin disorders or infection around the planned injection site
- A severe illness or infection of any kind
- Are pregnant or breast-feeding
- Existing weakness in targeted muscles
- A muscle or nerve condition
